Terms of Business

All Nurses carry disposable examination gloves at no extra cost to the Client. The Client must supply heavy duty gloves.

Sleeping nights are available for Clients, particularly for the elderly or those recently discharged from hospital who do not require constant care but who do require a reasonable presence. The Nurse must have her own bed in a separate bedroom within hearing distance of the Client. The Nurse will supply her own bedding, towels and toiletries.

Call-ups: The Nurse may be called up once during the night at no extra cost. Subsequent calls are charged at the current call-up rate.

Sit-over nights: The Nurse remains in the same room as the Client and will be allowed to sit or lounge in a comfortable chair that the Client must supply. The Nurse may sleep if she can, but is readily available to attend to the Client.

If the Nurse drives the Client's vehicle, with or on behalf of the Client, the Client is responsible for insuring the vehicle appropriately and for the running costs, including petrol. When the Nurse drives the Client in her own vehicle, with or on behalf of the client, the Client will be charged at the current rates - see price list.

No cancellation fee is charged on bookings that are cancelled with 24 hours' notice unless it has proved impossible to contact the Nurse. In this instance the Client will be charged for the Nurse's petrol and one hour. Cancellations made less than 24 hours ahead will carry a cancellation fee of half the price of the duty cancelled.

Staff from Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd will administer medication in accordance with the guidelines for the administration of medication from the United Kingdom Home Care Association and only such substances as are prescribed or approved by the Client's own medical practitioner(s).

Invoices are due and payable 30 days after the date of issue. In the event of failure to pay within 30 days of the date of issue, Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd reserves the right to charge interest at 5% above the current base lending rate of the Bank of Scotland during the period from the date of the invoice until the date of receipt of payment. All prices are inclusive of National Insurance, holiday pay, sick pay, training, protective items and commission

Client implies Patient or Client. Nurse implies Nurse, Carer, Home Help or Domestic.

If the Client engages Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd to supply a Nurse, this implies agreement to pay the prices quoted on the price list. It is not our policy to charge travel on behalf of the Nurse, although it may be necessary to negotiate with the Client if your residence is in a rural setting.

If the Client finds the Nurse incompatible, Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd will endeavour to replace him/her as soon as possible.

The Nurse is a direct employee of Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd. If a Nurse supplied by Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd is offered direct employment, a fee becomes payable and details will be supplied upon request.

Any specific complaints about the Nurse made by or on behalf of the Client should be made immediately and will be investigated and dealt with by Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd. A copy of our complaints procedure will be made available to you. We welcome constructive criticism.

It is the responsibility of the Client to provide a safe working environment for the Nurse, and to make sure that household insurance is adequate to cover a Nurse suffering any loss or injury while she is working for you in your home to claim full benefit. Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd and the attendant shall have no liability for the property of the Client except insofar as covered by insurance.

If the Client engages Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd to supply a Nurse on an hourly basis, you are not expected to supply meals and snacks. The Nurse may accept meals and snacks if offered.

If the Client engages the services of a Nurse from Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd on a long term care package, special arrangements regarding board and lodging will be discussed and the outcome of that discussion recorded in writing.
